![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The feeling of hope, peace and strength that the book evoked was enough. It did not matter if I could relate to her life or not. To me, the book was an honest opinion on life. In a similar way, Maya Angelou’s “Letter to My Daughter” made me rethink the lessons I have learnt so far and the principles I have chosen to follow. It is true that we disagree on certain things but there is always something for me to take home. I gain new insight on things from that trip and go on to live my life again. But the times when I visit my parents and have that conversation with my father, I experience a paradigm shift and my convictions start to fall apart. Later, when I moved out of my parents’ home, made new friends, met my husband, got married and had a beautiful daughter, based on my view of life, I had coined my own principles and hardly doubted my values. In my childhood, the one person who instilled strength in me was my father. Conversations with my father had always left me feeling strong and hopeful. ![]()
